Dr. Karen Dennis

Dr. Karen Dennis

Dr. Karen Dennis graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, University of London in 1999. Immediately following graduation she joined her father’s veterinary practice, which he founded almost 50 years ago. When her father transitioned to retirement, she became the owner and continued to serve her community as a veterinary general practitioner for 25 years.

Dr. Dennis grew up on a small family farm in Carroll County, Maryland. Her father introduced her to veterinary medicine at a very young age. This developed an undeniable love of animals through the many formative experiences she gained while caring for animals on the family farm, accompanying her father on local farm/house calls, and assisting her father in his home clinic. Her career choice was destined.

Dr. Dennis is grateful for the many challenges, client/patient relationships, and case variety that decades of general practice has offered. During this time, she recognized that dental disease is one of, if not the most overlooked health issues in our pets. Time and again she witnessed firsthand how dental disease can play a huge role in the overall health and well being of our pets, whether it is the cause of a disease process, or is interfering with the management of pre-existing disease. What she enjoys most about veterinary dentistry are the immediate results and dramatic improvement in the patient’s quality of life. As she embarks on this new journey focusing her efforts on veterinary dentistry, she is beyond excited to train under the tutelage of Dr. Taney, one of the best in her field, and to work with you and your beloved fur babies!

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Dennis loves crossfit, her morning cup of coffee, and binge-watching true crime documentaries. Most of all, she loves spending time at home with her husband and their beloved Devon Rex cat, Edgar Theodore Dennis!!

Fun Fact: Dr. Dennis is a triplet!!
